Types of natural stone most often used, come from different regions of the world. Part of them are quarried in Poland, but equally popular are the imported types of stone.
Where do popular types of stone come from?
- Granite. Many regions of the world are abundant in granite. So is Poland. We also have deposits of this mineral raw material. Spain is one of these countries, which possess good quality granite. In this country, you will find granite deposits of diverse varieties. The Iberian Peninsula holds considerable quantities of natural resources, and as a consequence, Spain can boast of the state-of-the art machinery and technologies. As regards the quality of granite as well as its price, Spain has become a serious competitor for Indie or Brazil, main importers of this stone. Yet, Indian companies can also pride themselves on cutting-edge technology, and first and foremost one-of-a kind granite. Granite imported from this country is widely known for its beauty and durability. Indian granite is distinguished for the world’s largest palette of different shades of colours. China also possesses large deposits of granite, which is exported to all corners of the world, including Poland. Chinese granite is most frequently used in the construction industry and in the monumental masonry. Granite is also imported to Europe from Brazil, that is one of the most geologically varied countries, which quarries practically all sorts of natural stone.
- Marble. Poland can be proud of a few kinds of marble. Yet, it is also imported from other countries. From Spain comes such unique marble as Crema Marfil or Emperador. Italy is one of the oldest producers of this stone. Still about 20 years earlier, marble was imported mainly from Italy. Nowadays, however, owing to the growing competition all over the world, Italy has lost some of their importers from other countries, including Poland. The fact remains that Italian marble is in a class by itself. The best example is Breccia marble. Marble is also imported to Europe from Indie and Brazil.
- Travertine. Like marble, travertine can be found primarily on the territories with warmer climates. It is imported in the first place from the Mediterranean countries. However, there are some deposits of this stone in Poland, too.Trawertyn.
- Onyx. It is one of the rarest occurring rock in the world. Being unique, onyx is considered to be very luxurious stone. It is quarried primarily in Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and Egypt.
